Remote-Ready Equipment Checklist – Starfront Observatories

Overview

Use this checklist to ensure your equipment is complete and ready before shipping to Starfront Observatories.

Required Gear

☐ Mount (include the bolts used to mount to tripod/pier)
☐ Telescope
☐ Camera
☐ Guide Scope with Camera or OAG
☐ Electronic Focuser
☐ Control Device (PC, ASIAIR, or Mac Mini)
☐ Power Strip (or Kasa/Web Power Switch)
☐ Power Cables (U.S. Standard 2 or 3 prong AC power bricks)
☐ Data Cables (USB cables)
☐ 30' Cat6 Ethernet Cable

Optional Gear

Not required, but may apply to your setup:

☐ Rotator
☐ Filter Wheel and Filters
☐ USB 3 Hub (only if there are insufficient USB ports on the remote PC or device)
☐ Pegasus Power Box (or similar power distribution devices)
☐ Dew Shield (will require measuring and recalculating swing radius)
☐ OTA-attached Flat Panel (will require measuring and recalculating swing radius)

Optional Accessories

☐ Battery Backup
☐ Kasa Smart Plug (remote control of power to devices via web)
☐ Digital Loggers Web Power Switch (similar to Kasa but may offer more robust options for multiple devices)
☐ 6" Cat6 Ethernet Cables (one cable per additional device requiring Ethernet)
☐ Unmanaged (Dumb) Switch (needed if more than one Ethernet-connected device is used)

All-in-One Systems

Alternative to a Remote PC setup — applicable if using all-in-one computerized telescope systems such as Seestar S50, Seestar S30, or Celestron Origin. A Mac Mini or PC with Android emulation is required if using these systems.
